COURSE OBJECTIVES. Contents of this course aim to explain contemporary theories and concepts in the field of ecotoxicological sciences as well as their basis. The objective of the course is to enable understanding of the process and methodology of diagnosing and quantification of the negative effects of the pollution on the ecosystem. Overview of ecological and toxicological effects of chemicals on structure and function of ecosystems, primarily at population, community and ecosystem levels of biological organization. The program is designed to teach students the scientific principles of toxicology and it focuses primarily upon the biology, chemistry, and mechanisms by which xenobiotics and natural toxins Modifications in the requirements of a student's course program may be made subject to the approval of the EPE AOE Adviser and Chair.
